Born in Porto (Portugal) in 1997, Hugo Peres is a collaborative pianist specialising in vocal repertoire, with a particular focus on Lied.

He completed his piano studies at the Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espetáculo (ESMAE) in Porto, before pursuing advanced training in Germany. He holds a Master’s degree from the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg in the class of Gilead Mishory, as well as a second Master’s degree in Lied, where he studied with Matthias Alteheld.

As a dedicated chamber musician and accompanist, he has worked with distinguished artists such as Anne Le Bozec, Burkhardt Kehring, Alexander Fleischer, Julius Drake, Bernarda Fink, Julian Prégardien, Thomas Hampson, and Roger Vignoles.

He was a semifinalist at the Nadia and Lili Boulanger International Competition in 2023 and has performed in renowned venues including Casa da Música and the Cine-Teatro Louletano.

Currently, he is continuing his specialisation in Lied at the Universität Mozarteum Salzburg under the guidance of Pauliina Tukiainen, and is a member of the Lied Academy of the Heidelberger Frühling Festival.

Hugo was awarded the First Prize of the Internationaal Liedfestival of Zeist 2026, together with the soprano Emily Jung.
